Hasan is a 51-year-old married man from Lebanon. He is living with his wife and only one working child. In 1995, in order to supplement the family’s income, he decided to start his own work. His job consists of selling vegetables. He has a wide variety of goods which he sells to customers from his town and the neighboring villages.
Today, he is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to purchase a vegetable cart, where he can expose all his products. He states that the loan will certainly help him increase his sales by a fair percentage, which will return higher profits for him. In the future, he plans to take more Kiva loans and open his own vegetable shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
