Yoeurn is a 27-year-old mother of one schoolboy, who resides in Battambang Province, where rice farming is the common business. Yoeurn is also one of the villagers who cultivate rice, as the main source of income. This is the business that she has been with for 10 years.
This is not the original loan for her with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has effectively used her previous three loans to stabilize her family’s living status, especially with regard to having a meal three times each day and keeping her child in school. For this loan cycle, she is going to smooth her farmland surface in order to be ready for the re-planting season. She hopes to grow her cash crop on time and make more income for her family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
