Amalia is 48 years old and married with 2 children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a retail business in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over 8 years and earns approximately 15,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC in the year 2011, and now she has requested a loan of 21,500 PHP to purchase additional products to sell, such as canned goods, dried fish, shampoo, soap, coffee, sugar and eggs. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
