Jocelyn is married with two children. She is forty years old and lives in Baybay, Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental. Jocelyn sells crabs and shrimps to earn a living and has had this business for eight years. Each month, she earns about PHP 9,000 doing this type of work.
She has requested a loan of ten thousand five hundred pesos to buy crabs and shrimps for her business. She has been a member of PMPC for three years. In the future, Jocelyn hopes to improve her living conditions by using the profits of the business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
