Elizabeth
Elizabeth is single and has 2 children, of whom one is independent and the little one has a mental disability and so needs a lot of care and a special treatment which prevents Elizabeth from being able to work all day. They live with relatives and occupy just one room with adobe walls and an earth floor. The house is located in the Tacagua area of the city of La Paz.
Elizabeth currently works in food preparation during the mornings and, with the little that she earns, she can't afford to pay for food and basic services. This is why she needs a loan to buy supplies such as rice, noodles, meat, and others to prepare and sell food independently from the door of her home and to be able to care for her little boy.
Elizabeth's dream is to improve her income so that she can pay a specialist institution to care for her little boy, which would also allow her more time to improve her income.
This is the second time that she has requested a loan from IMPRO and the first time from Kiva.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
