The formation of the group was in May of 2007. Hermogena T. learned about the Programa Comité de Mujeres Emprendedoras (Committee of Entrepreneurial Women program) and decided to form a group with her neighbors. Looking for women she could trust, she finally managed to form the committee which they named Kuña Aty.

The committee is in its 6th cycle and is not at all behind in their payments, which makes them an excellent group. They have 16 members, and they all work together to pay for their loans. They attend their weekly meetings and have a good amount of savings, which are deposited in a bank. The women have different occupations such as the sale of items like coal, fruits and vegetables, lingerie, handicrafts, baskets, bijouterie, etc.

The group Kuña Aty is situated in a rural settlement in the city of Capiatá. They are all the kind of people who daily place great effort to attain a better quality of life. They work hard so that they do not fail Fundación Paraguaya, and they place extreme value in the funds they receive through the committee loans.

Today, they are requesting a loan to invest in the purchase of merchandise for its sale in their respective businesses.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
