A villager from a rural area of Ou Reang Ov district, Kampong Cham province, Kimleang is 39 years old and married. She has two children. She earns a living by farming rice, while her husband works as a paid construction worker to help better support her business. Together, they can earn about KHR 30,000 per day from the current business, and they can save about KHR 10,000 each day for future needs.
This is the first loan for Kimleang with VisionFund. She is now asking for a loan. Kimleang is going to use part of the loan to buy fertilizer and rice seeds for her farmland, and use another part to assist her child’s wedding. She hopes this loan will enable her to timely grow her rice, so as to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
