Silvia tiene la edad de 28 años, está casada y vive con el esposo. El crédito lo quiere para la compra de cerras y madera para hacer casas para las abejas, para su reproducción de miel. Ella desea aumentar las casas de abejas, y con ello aumentar la producción de miel y a si mismo los ingresos. Doña Silvia trabaja desde hace muchos años con su esposo en esta área de apicultura. Ella espera en un futuro brindarle a su familia una mejor calidad de vida y una mayor estabilidad económica. Es el primer préstamo que recibido de FUDECOSUR. Ella no había tenido antes otros préstamos en bancos estatales, pero FUDECOSUR le ha brindado el préstamo con mayores facilidades y la tasa de intereses mucho más baja.

FUDECOSUR works in one of the poorest regions of Costa Rica, where microfinance institutions (MFIs) are scarce or have a hard time keeping up with demand for small loans. By providing mostly agricultural loans, FUDECOSUR reaches rural borrowers that many MFIs consider to be too risky. However, this has also made it more difficult for the organization to find stable sources of capital to lend.
