Chreb is age 32 years and she is a mother of two daughters who are still in school. She and her husband make a living through farming rice on two hectares of farmland and from planting cassava on two hectares of farmland, which they have been in for two years. The current business earns them about 46,000 KHR per day.
This is the sixth loan for Chreb with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She repaid the past loans which have helped her to relieve her family’s burden. She is now requesting a loan of 2,500,000 KHR with VisionFund to buy cassava seeds for her cassava business. She will spend a portion of it on plowing the field. Chreb hopes to make more crops and to sell them for a good price to make her family’s living better.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
