Brenda is 61 years-old and widowed with two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. To earn a living, she owns and operates a banana farm. She has been in her business for over 10 years and earns PHp19,000 every month.
In 2009, she joined Kiva partner GDMPC and she is now requesting a loan of PHp21,500 in order to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She plans to use
the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
