Elsa is 44 years old, married, and has seven children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a farm, planting and harvesting vegetables for sale in the local community, to earn a living. She has been in her business for over six years and earns PHP 9,000 every month. She has been a member of GDMPC since 2010, and now she is applying for a loan of PHP 10,500 to purchase fertilizer, such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
