A loan of $875 helped to build a room.

Estefana's story

Estefana is kind and very friendly. She was born in the city of Frontera, where she married Tomás. Thirty years ago, they moved to Piedras Negras. They do not have children.

In 2004 Piedras Negras was flooded, and Estefana and her husband lost their house and their business, a small grocery. With government support, they relocated to a nice area. There, with hard work and dedication, they reopened a grocery business, which has grown little by little.

Estefana's house has two floors. The grocery store occupies most of the first floor. She is asking for funding through Kiva to build a room on the upper floor so that they can have the store on the first floor and their home upstairs.
