Benkadi Group

The Benkadi group is composed exclusively of married women. They average 32 years of age, with five children, and all live in traditional extended families in the village of Chakabougou, Kaladougou community, Doio prefecture, Koulikoro Region (the second administrative region of Mali).

They know each other as relatives, neighbors and friends. They sell clothing and miscellaneous items.
The group members are on their second solidarity loan which will be used to buy clothing and miscellaneous items.
Assan, the first client seated on the right, plans to buy five sets of traditional “pagnes” fabric of the “fancy” grade from wholesalers in Diola, in order to resell them locally out of her house or as a street vendor and a the Diola market.
She plans to earn an average monthly revenue of 10,000 West African francs, which will be spent for her family needs, and a part of it reinvested in her clothing business.

Le groupe Benkadi est composé exclusivement de femmes mariées, ayant en moyenne 32 ans, 5 enfants et vivant toutes dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le village de Chakabougou, commune de Kaladougou, préfecture de Dioïla, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce d’habillements et d’articles divers de boutique.
Les femmes du groupe Benkadi sont à leur deuxième prêt solidaire qui sera utilisé pour acheter des habillements et des articles de boutique.
La cliente ASSAN, première personne à partir de la droite dans le rang des assises, compte acheter, 5 pièces de pagnes fancy avec les grossistes de Dioïla pour ensuite revendre sur place à la maison en ambulante et au marché de Dioïla.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 10 000FCFA qui sera utilisé pour ses besoins de la famille et une partie est réinvestie dans l’activité de commerce d’habits.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
