Kimalewa Group's story

Kimalewa Group is located in Chwele District. It is a group of two women and eight men led by John pictured on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for half an acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum cultivation. John first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2010 Long Rains season and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. John joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and to use the increased profits to send his children to school.

John described his harvest as good last year, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and buy cattle. For the 2013 Long Rains season, John’s group members will take input loans of half an acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 5 acres of land.

In this group: John, Leonard, Isaac, Damascus, Justus, Saul, Mary, Joe, Catherine, Mathew
