Mounira is a 54 year old married woman from Lebanon. She is living with her husband and five children. Two are studying and the others started to work. In 1997, in order to supplement the family’s income, she decided to start her own work as a farmer. Her job consists of cultivating tobacco, in addition to fruits and vegetables. Her husband who works in the construction field represents the main income source of the family. Today, she is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase the needed quantity of seeds and fertilizers. She states that the loan will certainly help her increase her business productivity by a large percentage which will return on her with higher profits. In the future, she plans to open a fruits and vegetables shop so she can start selling her own harvested goods.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
