Layale is a 31-year-old, Lebanese, married woman. She’s living with her husband and two children, the children attending school. She cooperates with her husband and has started to work very early, hoping she could bring added income to the family. She has been working as a beautician since 2005, and she has customers from all over the neighboring area. She also visits them at their places.
Today, she has the intention to borrow a loan from Kiva's partner, Vitas s.a.l, to buy a wax machine and additional beauty products, such as lipsticks, powder and eye shadow. This will be her second loan, and it will help her boost her earnings and, therefore, improve her family’s way of living. One of Layale’s greatest dreams is to better develop her business and gain the biggest number of clients she can.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
