Peninah is 36 years old, married, and supports a family of four. She runs a quarry-mining business serving Koitebes Village in Baringo County. This has been her income-generating business for the last five years, and she gets an average monthly income of 6,000 KES.
She has borrowed a loan of 16,000 KES. With this loan, she intends to pay wages for casual workers in her mines. She anticipates getting profits which she will use to expand her business by increasing the number of workers in the quarry, increasing building block production to meet customer demand.
Peninah hopes to improve her living standards and be financially stable. She also hopes to save money to enable her to pay school fees for her children as well as expand her business by mechanizing the mining processes.
