Evelyn is married, with eight children. Evelyn is 54 years old and lives in Garang, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.
Evelyn sells palay grains to earn a living and has had this business for 20 years. Each month, she earns PHP 6,000 doing this type of work. She has requested a loan for PHP 14,000 (fourteen thousand pesos) to buy more palay grains for her buy-and-sell business.
Evelyn has been a member of Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) for six years. In the future, Evelyn hopes to improve her living conditions by using the profits of the business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
