Saidboi lives in the Shahrituz region in the southwest of Tajikistan. He is 42 years old. He is married and has five children. His wife works on a “dekhan farm.” The term “dekhan farm” means a small individual or collective private farm employing a small number of people; mainly, such farms produce cotton, wheat or vegetables (which take up 60% of arable land in Tajikistan). Saidboi is a produce farmer, but he plans to launch a new business. He is interested in raising livestock as this line of business is profitable and not physically demanding. With this goal in mind, he is requesting a loan to buy cattle for resale.
