Tean's Group
In this Group: Tean, Huon
Tean, 51, is a local inhabitant from Sampov Meas district of Pursat Province. She has six children only one of whom still counts on her as he is still in school. She and her husband have only one primary source of income, rice farming. She is able to earn about 40,000 KHR per day from the current business that she has been with for ages.

Tean has been with VisionFund for two cycles. Her previous loan has helped her to upgrade her living gradually; she also finally can manage to repay her loan successfully as well.

For this cycle, she has formed a group of two to apply for a new loan. She is seeking 1,200,000 KHR while her fellow group member is applying for 500,000 KHR. As a group leader, she will use her loan portion to renovate her kitchen. She hopes to own a proper kitchen for her family so that she can provide decent and clean food for her kid.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
