A 52-year-old mother of three kids residing in Battambang province, Peach is married and is one of the villagers who grow rice as their primary source of income. To help her in earning more income, her husband also has another job as the cooking chef during wedding ceremonies. This 10 years' engagement in her current business has provided Peach with about 26,700 KHR as her daily income.

Peach is a sixth-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Now, her living standard is better than before which is owing to a positive outcome of her past loans; she also fully repaid her past loans with success.

Now, she is in a group of three to apply for a new loan. She is the group leader and will use her loan portion to pay plowing fees. She really hopes that she can earn more income and upgrade her living standard constantly.

The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
