Basilio is a resident of Nkubu in Central Kenya where he lives with wife and two children, aged seven and two years. He has been in farming for twenty years, and currently mainly produces cereal, such as maize, beans and vegetables for the local market. He meets all his family's basic needs through his farming business.
Basilio has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo and says that he will use the loan to buy irrigation pipes and a water tank. He says that the availability of water will improve his farming income and enable him to educate his children.
He mentions the lack of capital, and pests and diseases as the main farming challenges.
