Meri is 30 years old. She lives in Shalauri village, Telavi district with her parents, brother, aunt and retired grandmother. Meri is trading in adornments. She buys at wholesale prices from the market and sells with a price markup among her villagers.
The family has a milk cow and a calf. Meri’s father milks the cow to make dairy products and sells them locally at the markets. Her brother is trading with vegetables to earn a small monthly income. Her mother is working in the kindergarten as a cook. In addition, Meri’s aunt has a social pension from a government institution, as she is an invalid.
Meri requested a loan for purchasing a stock of adornments. After she has a bigger stock, she will be able to offer better choices to her clients. This will increase her income and give Meri the opportunity to help her family and provide better living conditions for them.
