Chanseng, 38, is a widow and mother of five children, three schoolchildren and two paid-workers, residing in Dambae district of Kampong Cham province. She manages two hectares for growing cassava as the main income. She also runs a small grocery stall for supplementing the family’s income. This is the only business that she has been with for 10 years.
This is the first loan for Chanseng with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She is seeking 3,000,000 KHR in order to pay for the plowing fee, pesticide purchase, and weeding fee. In addition, she will buy more grocery items for resale. She hopes to make more income and improve her living condition.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
