Chamnan is 30 years old and a rural citizen from Kampong Cham province where cassava and rice are commonly grown. Currently, she needs to cater for her four children as they are still in school. Besides working in cassava and rice, she also helps her husband at a sesame field for extra income. She has engaged in this current business for 10 years. Having been with VisionFund (Kiva’’s partner) for the past three loan cycles, she feels empowered that she can relieve her family’s burden. Now, she is seeking 4,000,000 KHR in order to pay for plowing fees, potash and insecticides. She hopes that she can gain an increased crop output with high profits for her kids' sake.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
