A loan of $775 helped to hire workers.

Vicente's story

Vicente, 49, is a man with a lot of work capacity. He is a widower, has a 17-year-old son, and lives in a wooden house. Vicente grows mullein for a living but he started out as a hired hand on other property in the city. Eventually, he was able to set up a family and buy his own land. His work entails growing the crops and later extracting the roots carefully, as the plant is used to make repellants.

Vicente always has to hire workers in order to shorten production time and guarantee an optimum quality for the area collectors. He is planning on buying more land to produce organic cocoa since it is a product in abundance in the area. This is his first Kiva loan and he is committed to paying it back on time. On this occasion, he would like to have 2,000 PEN to hire workers who will handle the extraction of the mullein.
