Hugo
Hugo is single but has been living with his partner for nine years. The couple have a 2-year-old child who is not yet old enough for school. Hugo lives in two rooms in his parents' house: a bedroom and a living room. The walls are made from adobe and covered with stucco. The floor is brick. The house is located in the Villa Exaltación district of the city of El Alto.

Hugo needs this loan to buy a table and some chairs to equip a food sales business in his area from which his partner can sell food. Up to now they have been relying solely on his wage. Hugo contributes toward covering the cost of his family's basic services. His dream is to acquire premises where he can set up a small restaurant so that he can improve his income and his quality of life.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
