Jovia lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has two children, one of whom attends school. She is also looking after her sister. She stays with her husband in a rented house with access to electricity but not to piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees and rent.
She has been selling green bananas from door to door at retail for the last year, working six days a week. She does not have any other source of income.
She has requested for a loan of UGX 200,000 from MCDT- SACCO to enable her to buy more bunches of green bananas for sale.
Her challenges include seasonality and thieves. Her dream is to be able to own a place where she sells all types of raw food and also to become a wholesaler. She joined MCDT because it helps women who earn low incomes.
