Pheng C., age 52, is a mother of seven children and works selling fish in a busy market. She earns approximately $4 per day. Her husband owns a plot of farmland, and he's been planting a variety of vegetables and rice since 1990. Three of the children are married and live away from home; two are employed and the other help with the father’s work. Now because of the difficulty of a dry season, Mrs. Pheng’s husband would like to purchase a water pump to irrigate the crops. The leftover will be used to increase the number of fish to resell for additional profit. (Her husband is pictured because Mrs. Pheng C. was not available)
