Hosea (pictured here with his dairy cows although he's requesting a poultry farming loan) is a resident of Kitale where he carries out farming business producing mainly maize, beans and milk for the local market. He has five solid years in active farming. He is married with one child aged four.
Hosea has requested a loan of 35,000 Kenyan Shillings (KES) from Kiva partner Juhudi Kilimo to help him buy more poultry birds. He plans to grow his farming business and rank among the leading poultry products supplier in the area. He says the farming produce will mainly go into educating his children.
Hosea has mentioned records keeping and poor prices for the farm produce within the local markets as the major challenges.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
