Richard was born in 1971 at Rwakabengo southern division Rukungiri – District. He is married to Charity, a teacher by profession, and blessed with two children. He started a project of brick laying, which was his major source of income for a long period of time, but in 2012 a friend of his introduced him to UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI), which he joined with the intention of acquiring a loan to expand his project.

Based on the client's previous loan, he was able to expand his project and started another project, which is piggery, and now he is concentrating on piggery and he took this loan to buy more pigs to expand the project.

He thanks UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) for the support it has given him to continue running the project from which he has been able to enhance his income and also to send his children to school.

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
