Thon M., 49, is married and lives in Siem Reap Province with her four children. Daily, she goes to the market to sell porridge, making around $12.50, while her husband sells firewood, typically making $5 each day. The family is also supported by a few of the children who are able to work. One child is a farmer, another works with Thon M., another works with her husband, and the last is a student. Thon M. is requesting a loan of $800 to purchase a pig to raise. It is a difficult time economically for most Cambodians, because inflation has soared, and raising pigs will be a good way for Thon M. to generate some extra income for her family and raise their standard of living.
