Walter Eduardo
Walter is a 20-year-old single man who lives in Nazca with his parents and siblings. He is a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic individual who has the drive to succeed. Unfortunately, due to the lack of financial resources and the need to find work, Walter was not able to study for a professional degree in Civil Engineering as he would have liked. In his free time, he enjoys watching television and on a few occasions he will prepare a delicious dish of “frejoles con seco” (beans with stewed meat) to share with his family.

Through his own initiative and with great effort and dedication, Walter works in the construction trade as an assistant. He works every day for approximately 12 hours. Walter believes he is doing well because he has developed in this trade and treats all of his clients in a friendly manner.

Walter is extremely grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to the assistance they have provided, he will able to make improvements to his home. He wants to plaster and paint the walls as well as install a concrete floor in one of the rooms in his house that has deteriorated. By making these improvements, Walter will be able to provide greater security and well-being for his family. He will continue working and striving to fulfill his greatest wish of studying for a professional degree. Over time, he wants to get ahead.

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
