Melonie is 47 years old and married with four children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She has owned and operated a retail business for more than eight years and earns 8,000 PHP every month.
Melonie joined GDMPC in the year 2008 to gain access to financial services and to improve her ability to engage in business activities. She has requested a loan of 10,000 PHP to purchase additional products such as canned goods, noodles, sugar and coffee. She plans to use the additional revenue generated to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
