Nhanh,41, is a local citizen from Dambae district of Kampong Cham province. She is married and has five children. Nowadays, she needs to look after four children only as they are still in school. She manages one hectare of land where rice is growing and three hectares of cassava planting. She has been involved in agriculture for 20 years.
Nhanh’s prior loan was the original loan with VisoinFund (Kiva’s partner). She has used her past loan smartly to provide daily decent food for her kids and to keep them in school. Now, she is seeking for a new loan in amount of 4,000,000 KHR to buy potash, insecticide, seeds, and to pay for plowing fees. She hopes to gain more yield to sell during high price so that she can earn more income to sustain her living needs.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
