Originally from Kampong Cham Province, Pheap is married and has two children. He strives for a living with his wife through cassava cropping on one hectare area and cashew growing on another four hectares of farmland. Having been farming for 10 years, he is able to earn up to 24,000 KHR per day. This is not the first loan for Pheap with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner; it is his third loan. He has wisely used his past loans to better support his business and increase his income. Now, he is seeking 3,500,000 KHR in order to pay for weeding fees, plowing fees, and to buy pesticides. He hopes to gain more yield and make more profit for his family's sake.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
