To cover the daily cost of living, she grows rice, pineapple and chili as the main source of income. She has been involved in the current business for 18 years. Sok, the third-time borrower, formed a group of three to apply for a new loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She, after the past loan which she has completely repaid, feels empowered that she can better support her living in a gradual manner.
As a group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer and potash for her pineapple. She highly hopes that she can boost her pineapple yield better than before and sustain her living.
About VisionFund CambodiaVisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
