Rustam is a 43-year-old farmer. He is married with four children: one daughter and three sons, two of whom help to run his business. Rustam's business provides him with the means to meet the needs of his family and he earns about 200 AZN selling his crops. He owns a large piece of land where he cultivates different kinds of vegetables and fruits but due to the poor quality of the soil and insect problems, Rustam is no longer able to satisfy market demand. He is very hardworking and determined.
Rustam is requesting a 600 AZN loan to buy seeds, fertilizer, and tools. His loan will greatly improve his income and his family's living standards.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
