Originally from Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Atymas is married and blessed with five children who are students in the local state school. To tackle a huge expense in the family such as daily decent food, as well as the children’s education, she has managed various businesses including cashew nut trading, bread selling, and rubber tree growing. She has been involved in the business for five years and is able to earn up to 127,200 KHR per day. Atymas is the new client to VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She will use her loan portion to buy cashew nuts from others’ plantations for resale. She hopes this purchase will help her to collect cashew nuts on time and sell with high prices so she can uplift her living to a good status.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
