Leonilo is 45 years old with 5 children. He lives in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. He owns and operates farmland, planting and harvesting rice for sale in the local community to earn a living. He has been in his business for over 10 years and earns 35,000 PHP every month. He joined GDMPC in 2007, and now he has requested a loan of 40,000 PHP to purchase fertilizer such as manure. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
