Demetrio, 56, has a high-school education and five children. He is very respectful and humble. He lives in Agrigento near Villa Tunari, Km 165 on the Cochabamba - Santa Cruz highway. The place he lives is popular for its fish soups. He had a restaurant there, that his wife managed. They were indebted to some financial institutions. He worked in the mine and sent his money to his wife for expenses. But he says that she got behind in the payments and they separated because of the situation. His wife went to Cochabamba and he had to take charge of his family, and little by little he resolved his accounts. He rented the restaurant out to another person and now he works in Chimore as a driver at a gas distributor. His children, most of whom are independent, support him, and along with his daughter (pictured) he is asking for the loan to set up another restaurant on the land they have so they can rent it as well. And improve their income and quality of life.
