Saumu is an enterprising young client. She is 30 years old and has been married for years. She and her husband have three children, all of whom attend school.
Saumu has owned her business for three years. She previously devoted herself as a full-time farmer while her husband was working, but she decided to open a food pantry to take advantage of the fact that there were no other places in her neighborhood to buy groceries or basic necessities. Saumu started out selling essential items and later increased her assortment of merchandise to include meats and beverages.
The loan she is requesting will be invested in the purchase of a variety of products, such as rice, meat, canned goods, and other items.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
