Paulina is 65 years old and married with four children. She lives in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. She raises pigs for sale. She has been in her business for over 10 years and earns 5,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) every month. Paulina joined GDMPC in the year 2011, and now she has requested a loan of 7,000 PHP to purchase pig feeds. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
