Ligaya is 44 years old, married, with one child. She lives in Calamba, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a retail business in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over six years and earns PHP 35,000 every month.
Ligaya has joined Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities.
Now, she has requested a loan of PHP 40,000 to purchase additional products to sell, like rice, canned goods, sugar, coffee, shampoo, and soap. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
