Bunnhan lives in a rural village in the Dambae district with her husband and two children, both of whom are in school. She is 31 years old and earns a living by growing cassava and working for others for a fee. She and her husband have been in this line of work for seven years and earn about 18,000 KHR per day. Bunnhan has taken out and repaid one loan from VisionFund and is requesting a new one, for 2,000,000 KHR, to buy pesticides and pay workers to plow her field. She hopes to have a good harvest so that she can improve her family's living standards.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
