Magdana is 33 years old. She lives in Khobi district with her husband Tornike, mother-in-law and two children who are going to school. The family owns three milk cows, a calf and a pig. She milks the cows to make cheese. The family also owns an agricultural plot of land where they grow nut trees and sow maize. Tornike harvests products to sell with the cheese locally at the markets. They get a small monthly income which is not enough to feed a five-member family. Magdana plans to purchase a tractor with the requested loan. Her husband Tornike will use it to till their plot, and this will reduce tilling costs. He will also use the tractor on neighbors’ plots and get additional income. Magdana plans to reinvest the profit in her agricultural activities as well as improve the living conditions of the family.
