Joyce is a 49-year-old widow from Homabay town, which is located in the western part of Kenya. She supports six children, ages 12 to 24 years old.
Joyce has a cereals stall in Homabay town. She has been doing this business for the last three years and makes a monthly income of KES 16,000. She is applying for her second loan after having paid the previous loan successfully. She will use this loan to purchase more stock of maize, beans and green grams. She will use the anticipated profit to plow back into the business.
She has a dream of growing her business, educating her children up to university level and having a good life as a family.
