Doing business as Jazzy B, Jasper is an independent consultant of The Mortgage Manager. He says he saves homeowners about $90,000 on interest and fees on a 30-year term loan. “I do mail requests for customers’ bi-monthly mortgage payments,” he says.
His next goal is to offer his services to commercial businesses.
Jazzy B offers CDs to homeowners so they may enter their information and decide if it’s beneficial to proceed doing business with their “mortgage manager.”
Jasper says he will have a website by the end of May 2013, which he believes will help expand his business. “All I had before was my email address,” he says. With the website, Jasper will be able to refer his customers to the site, which will diminish his operating costs. For the time being, he plans to advertise on Craigslist.com. Jasper began his business in 2007, sending solicitations to potential homeowners. Now that he’s been in this business for six years, Jasper plans to expand soon - adding one or two part-time employees within the next year or so.
Knowing that he needed to update his equipment, Jasper applied and was approved for a loan from Accion Texas Inc. He says, “I need a new printer and fax machine. I want to update to a smart phone or iPad to do more business directly, right there on the spot.” The loan also covers the cost of stamps and envelopes.
Jasper’s main goal was to earn income, retire from his former job, and go into his current business to help homeowners with their mortgage payments. “If there’s a way to cut down their payments, they can have a better life,” he says.
Jasper states that he is very satisfied with Accion. “They did everything they said they’d do,” he says.
