Iris is 33 years old and single. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a food production business to earn a living in the local community. She has been with her business for over two years and earns 8,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Now she has requested a loan of 10,000 PHP to purchase additional items such as longanisa (pork sausages) and dried fish. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
