Sandra Marixa
Sandra is a 40-year-old married woman. From that marriage, she has five children who are in different grades of primary school. The oldest works with Sandra and her husband in the planting and cultivation of coffee. They all live together like a big family. Sandra completed the primary level of education thanks to the great effort and sacrifice of her own parents, who taught her the business of coffee cultivation from a very early age.

Together with husband, Sandra has worked in agriculture for more than seven years. Her crops are more than two kilometers from her house and she travels to them on foot daily, without forgetting to support her children when they get out of school every day. Her crops are marketed and sold on a small scale in the local market and to some buyers who come to the place where she lives from other nearby regions.

Sandra is currently requesting help to purchase supplies like fumigation pumps and natural fertilizers to help keep her crops healthy and free of diseases like coffee rust and other infestations that deteriorate the entire crop.

Her goals and her dreams are to be able to continue giving her children a better education, as this will be the weapon that they can use to defend themselves against the challenges of life; to be able to keep moving forward so that each of them can achieve their dreams and goals; and to pass on the best teachings of all: respect for God, education, and the principles that are the basis for success in life.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
